About

Ernie grew up in a flourishing jam scene in Connecticut. He began playing guitar at twelve years old after hearing Chuck Berry on a cassette tape in his grandmother’s Cadillac. Ernie’s grandfather Ernest Nickols was a storyteller and prankster who inspired young Ernie to write songs with a white lie that he had written Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me To The Moon”. By the time Ernie found out his grandfather was not a world famous songwriter but rather a politician, it was too late. Ernie was hooked on writing and would go on to write songs for the next 20 years.

Ernie kept these songs reserved for late night party jam sessions and the voice notes on his phone. Through the support of his partner Abaigeal, he was able to quit drinking and push through the fear of pursuing a music career.

Ernie’s 2024 EP “hangin round” employs pop sensibility tastefully sprinkled with psychedelia that takes listeners through his journey of self discovery and overcoming insecurities.
